GET TO THE ROOT OF YOUR SYMPTOMS
Functional Medicine Testing
Functional medicine seeks to identify and comprehensively address the underlying root cause of your unique struggles. With a "test, don't guess" approach, we are able to thoroughly highlight key factors that may be holding you back from truly feeling your very best.

“The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition.”
— Thomas Edison
Importance of Gut Health Testing
A health intake questionnaire is a great place to start however, it's important to dig deeper as imbalances in your gut microbiome, also referred to as dysbiosis, can be identified on lab testing. Having lab work upfront allows for a more individualized plan and can end up saving you financially in the long run.
The human gut microbiome is home to trillions of different microorganisms and it's one of the most critical systems to keep in balance. These microorganisms are tasked with many vital functions such as hormone production, vitamin and mineral absorption, immune system regulation and communication with the brain and nervous system. If there's problems with your gut, this can affect other organ systems. The gut-brain connection is not only vital for your physical well-being but can largely affect your mental health and wellness as well.
Testing for Environmental Toxins
From our food and water supply, to the air we breathe and our personal care products, we are truly being bombarded with toxins. Our natural detoxification pathways in our body can become overburdened and not function properly. Heavy metals, environmental toxins, pesticides and chemicals all contribute to our toxic load.
Toxic overload can negatively impact your gut microbiome and can increase your risk for disease. Testing for these poisons allows us to make strategic decisions including limiting your exposure, improving your detox pathways and incorporating binders to pull these toxins out of your system. You may have heard the saying, your genes load the gun but environment pulls the trigger. Awareness to your exposures is key to achieving optimal health and healing.
Common exposures to environmental toxins:
✓ Heavy metals (personal care products, food and water)
✓ Pharmaceuticals (antibiotics and medications)
✓ Phthalates (personal care products)
✓ Microplastics (drinking water)
✓ Pesticides (GMO Foods)
✓ Artificial sweeteners (processed foods)
✓ BPA (plastics, canned foods)
✓ PFAS- Forever chemicals (non-stick cookware)

GI-Map by Diagnostic Solutions
A GI MAP is a comprehensive stool test that is used to assess your microbiome for gut pathogens, bacterial infections, yeast overgrowth, viruses and parasites. Antibiotics resistance genes are also included.
The GI-MAP was designed to detect microbes that may be disturbing normal microbial balance or contributing to illness. The results include key markers for digestion, absorption, inflammation and immune function.
An unhealthy gut can cause a range of symptoms that are felt beyond the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Brain fog, insomnia, fatigue, headaches, skin issues, food sensitivities and more can often be traced back to gut health.
Some conditions that warrant testing are:
✓ Autoimmune diseases
✓ Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
✓ Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
✓ Digestive complaints
✓ Brain fog
✓ Skin problems like acne and psoriasis
✓ Mood disorders, depression and anxiety
✓ Diabetes and weight loss

The Environmental Toxins profile screens for the presence of 39 toxic substances in your body. The Mycotoxins profile helps identify the presence of mycotoxins, toxic substances produced by certain types of fungi, in your body. The Heavy Metals profile identifies if you have been exposed to toxic levels of heavy metals.
Symptoms and risk factors include:

Blood Chemistry Review
Chronic disease is currently recognized as the leading cause of death and disability in the United States, accounting for approximately 7 out of 10 deaths each year. Medical lab reference ranges are established based on the average health of the population at large. However, as the general population increasingly becomes more chronically ill or diseased, these lab reference ranges expand and widen, reflecting a concerning trend in overall health and well-being.
With my education and training, I can help recognize red flags through reviewing blood work using optimal ranges.
Some symptoms that warrant blood work include:
✓ Digestive distress
✓ Blood sugar imbalances
✓ Chronic stress
✓ Dehydration
✓ Hormone issues
✓ Acute or chronic infections
✓ Fertility/pregnancy issues
✓ Chronic inflammation
✓ Joint pain
✓ Skin problems
✓ Anxiety/depression
✓ Autoimmune issues
✓ Sleep issues and more!
